Iris Giclée prints by Joan Boryta

Joan Boryta has exhibited extensively throughout the eastern US, the Caribbean and Ireland. She is the recipient of many awards and has taught Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Watercolor since 1991.

"Talent is a gift. When I realized my gift of painting, my focus changed direction, my spirit was lifted. I then took responsibility to unlock and release the storeroom of emotion and information that was pent-up in my heart just waiting to be brought to life with my brush. What a sweet peace to find one's purpose in life!

My paintings are a combination of realism and impressionism which allows the viewer to emotionally witness the essence of the scene with the same breath felt by the artist. It is nothing planned – it is a true gift. My watercolors are free and flowing, the oils are fresh and vibrant. I am grateful for the variety of experience of working in both mediums.
Caribbean life has taught me a new palette of vibrant color. This brings an aliveness unknown to the somber New England landscape. Opportunity has also led me to Ireland and Scotland to paint the lush greens and vast and changing skies.
I am thankful for the ability to successfully vary my palette to accommodate the mood of the scene.

In appreciation for my talent, I share what I know by teaching group classes and by doing workshops. My work is represented in several New England and British galleries and has been selected for publication in "The Best of Watercolor 1996, 1997" by Rockport Publishers. I am currently a member of the New England Watercolor Society of Boston, Massachusetts."
